UGA Mock Trial to Hold First-Ever Public Scrimmages

2.16.10 UGA Mock Trial will hold its first-ever public, intra-squad scrimmages next week. All members of the university community are invited to watch.

The scrimmage dates, times, and locations are:

Monday, Feb. 22, 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. — Miller Learning Center (MLC) 268

Tuesday, Feb. 23, 6:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m. — Miller Learning Center (MLC) 153

The Facebook event for the public scrimmages can be found here.

The scrimmages are open to all members of the UGA community, and will be an opportunity for spectators to increase their knowledge of the legal system, as well as gain awareness of UGA's Mock Trial program, which is the largest undergraduate Mock Trial program in the United States.

No sign-up is necessary to view the scrimmages. UGA Mock Trial requests that spectators arrive 15 minutes early and stay for the entirety of the trial, which will last 2 1/2 to 3 hours. At the conclusion of the trial, all spectators will be asked to complete a brief questionaire to help the scrimmaging teams prepare for the upcoming competition.

Monday and Tuesday's scrimmages will use the same case, but will feature different team members playing different roles on the two days. Spectators may attend one or both scrimmages.

The scrimmages will be the final rehearsals for the program's A Teams before they travel to compete at the Birmingham Regional competition held on Feb. 27-28 at Samford University.
