UGA Takes 2nd at National Tournament

3.27.11 UGA finished in 2nd place at the Ney National held at Furman University this weekend, and will advance to the National Championship Tournament in Des Moines, Iowa next month.

UGA's A Team defeated several top teams in the southeast to advance, going 7-1 in four rounds. The team's only loss came to 1st place Furman University in a split-ballot decision, which UGA won +7, -1. The team also won rounds against Duke and Emory, and placed above both teams from Harvard.

The National Championhsip Tournament will feature the top 48 teams in the country out of the nearly 600 that started the season.

UGA's B Team finished with a record of 3-4-1 in rounds against Central Florida, Elon, Furman, and Duke. Curry Andrews won an All-National Attorney award.

Competing on A Team 1134, which finished in 2nd place, were: Brian Mink (Captain, '11), Ethan Treacy (Captain, '12), Alana Driscoll ('11), Veronica Evans ('13), Alex Galvan ('11), Lauren Lutton ('13), Vera Maladtsova ('12), and Michelle Pope ('11)

Competing on B Team 1135 were: Brandon Amey (Captain, '12), Jarred Klorfein (Captain, '11), Muneeb Ahmed ('12), Curry Andrews ('11), Katie Clifford ('12), Isha Ghodke ('13), Philip Oldham ('13), Serena Premjee ('12), and Claire Whitehead ('13).
