1.29.12 The University of Georgia showed off at Georgia Tech's 7th Annual Ramblin Wreck Invitational in Atlanta, Georgia and took home a fifth place victory and several individual awards amongst very tough competition.
Team 1429 placed 5th at the competition with a record of 5-2-1 after winning both ballots from the University of Pittsburgh and Eastern Kentucky University, splitting ballots with Furman University, and finally tieing and losing with Miami University.
Team 1428 ended the competition with a record of 4-4 and had the third highest combined strength of the tournament at 20.5. The team won both ballots against Miami University, split ballots with both Furman University and Central Florida, and finally losing to Duke A.
UGA also put members on the tournament's bye buster team throughout the competition which ended with a record of 4-4. For the last two rounds of the competition, the bye buster team had an all UGA member counsel table and took both ballots in each round. Members competing on the bye buster team throughout the weekend included: Corey Anderson ('14), Alli Herzog ('14), Mallory Cain ('15), Elijah Staggers ('14), Drew Jacoby ('15), Clayton Sharp ('13), and Kaitlyn Beck ('15).
Amanda Horne ('15) of Team 1428 received an Outstanding Attorney Award with a perfect 20 ranks on Prosecution. Kaitlyn Beck ('15) of Team 1429 received an Outstanding Witness Award with a perfect 20 ranks on Prosecution. Ross Thomas ('14) of Team 1428 was also the recipient of an Outstanding Witness Award with 18 ranks on Prosecution.
Competing on Team 1429, which finished in 5th place, were: Eli Staggers (Trial Captain, '14), Aaron Parks (Trial Captain, '13), Mindy Johnson ('15), Diane Turner ('15), Christen Hammock ('13), Kaitlyn Beck ('15), Julie Katz ('15), Christine Lee ('14), Zach Jones ('15), along with Captains Katie Clifford (E Board, Captain '12) and Philip Oldham (Captain, '13).
Competing on Team 1428 were: Ashley Thompson (Trial Captain, '14), Amanda Horne (Trial Captain, '15), Steven Shelton ('13), Brittany Penson ('14), Alli Herzog ('14), Mallory Cain ('15), Ross Thomas ('14), Jessi Norton ('15), Drew Jacoby ('15), along with Captains Brandon Amey (President, Captain, '12) and Claire Whitehead ('13).
